At Balule Nature Reserve community empowerment is at the heart of our mission. Through educational and skills development programmes, community support, and environmental awareness, Balule assists in empowering local communities, ensuring sustainable livelihoods for generations to come.
The Balule Outreach Trust (BOT) plays an integral role in the Hoedspruit and Phalaborwa area in investing in community upliftment, education, skills development and conservation awareness programmes. Established in 2012 by the late John Anderson , together with Balule landowners, residents and friends, BOT was created to support the people who live and work in and around the reserve – preserving wildlife while empowering communities.
Through partnerships with schools, communities and employees, BOT helps create a future where people and nature can thrive together. These incentives are made possible entirely through the generosity of donors.
Every contribution to the Trust counts! Within 14 days, donors will receive acknowledgement of their donation to BOT, along with a S.A.R.S. Section 18A certificate.
Make a difference today and help us support community-driven conservation!
The Balule Outreach Trust empowers communities in creating and supporting small to medium enterprises (SMEs) to provide hospitality, construction and other related eco-tourism services in Balule and its GLTFCA partner reserves. These SMEs and Balule’s member regions provide significant employment opportunities, playing a vital role in empowering and supporting the local economy.
